Here’s my current soft graph for mermaid types:

• Triton (Rogue) are fishy mermaids. Bermudas (Mage) are squishy or shelly mermaids. Leviathans (Warrior) are dinosaur-ish mermaids.
• Ocean depth and sunlight level affects their size and appearance – the deeper mermaids live, the bigger they usually get.
• Mermaids who live in deep depths can still look human, but it’s their giant inhuman size that categorizes them as Aphotic Mermaids. 
• Human-sized mermaids can exist in deep depths, but they’re rare.
