More magical maladies for your D&D game:

Dimension Deficit Disorder: The victim’s body is subject to random spatial distortions, causing them to become compressed along one or more dimensional axes. These effects extend to any items worn or carried by the victim. After completing each long rest, roll 1d10 to determine which dimension(s) are affected:

  • 1-3 Height
  • 4-6 Width
  • 7-9 Depth
  • 10 Roll twice and combine, ignoring further results of 10

The indicated dimensions are reduced by 50%. The victim may squeeze without penalty when confronted with restricted spaces of the appropriate type (e.g., a low ceiling for height, a narrow passage for width, etc.) and gains advantage on Dexterity saves to avoid or reduce damage from the appropriate direction. However, the victim is prone to misjudge the position of their limbs, and suffers disadvantage on all Strength (Athletics) and Dexterity (Acrobatics) checks.

Each time the victim suffers damage, re-roll for the affected dimension(s). The victim may attempt a Constitution save versus DC 15 to avoid changing dimensions when suffering damage.

Executive Disjunction: The victim’s actions experience a
decoupling of cause and effect. Whenever the victim takes an action that
requires a d20 roll, and the modified roll is exactly equal to the
target number, a random magical effect occurs instead, just as though
the victim had provoked a wild surge while casting a spell on the
action’s target. This completely replaces the action’s ordinary effects;
no consequences of failure are incurred, and any resources that would
ordinarily be used up in the attempt (e.g., spell slots, equipment,
etc.) are not consumed. Reactions and rolls that don’t require an action
– for example, a saving throw against a trap or spell – are unaffected.

Irritable Owl Syndrome: Any owls the victim encounters are poorly disposed to them and wish to do them harm. This curse does not conjure owls where none exist, so its effects can largely be managed by avoiding travel at night. Owlbears count as owls for this purpose, as may other owl-like monsters at the GM’s discretion. Owls with an Intelligence score of at least 6 may attempt a DC 13 Wisdom save maintain their composure in the vicitm’s presence.

Pyrocephaly: An imbalance of humours causes fire to accumulate within the victim’s skull, resulting in chronic headache, short-temperedness, trickles of smoke issuing from the ears, and disadvantage on all Wisdom rolls. Should the victim be reduced to zero hit points before receiving treatment, their head immediately explodes, killing them and inflicting 1d6 points of fire damage per level of the victim to everything in a 20-foot radius; a successful Dexterity save versus DC 11 reduces this damage by half.

Hemogoblinopathy: Whenever the victim bleeds for any reason, the blood that leaves the body will begin to animate and pool into one spot, taking the form of a tiny goblinoid creature (the exact size depending on the amount of blood lost, with total exsanguination possibly leading to a full-sized goblinoid). The creature is inherently hostile to the victim and will attempt to inflict more bleeding on them. Each individual cut will produce a separate goblinoid figure. Though potentially very dangerous if left unchecked, the blood will stop animating after being hit with a single attack.

hey guys psa regarding hospital bills

don’t just pay it. do not automatically pay the hospital bill when you receive it. call your health insurance provider and POLITELY say, “excuse me, i just received a bill for $1200 for my hospital visit/ER visit/etc., is that the correct amount i’m supposed to pay?” because hospitals bill you before your health insurance and they will take your money no matter how the amount due may change based on your health insurance looking at it. 90% of the time, if your health insurance is in any way involved in the payment of that bill, you do not have to pay as much as the hospital is billing you for. call your health insurance provider first, and POLITELY request clarification, always remember that the person you are talking to is human and this is just their job, and then you will very likely find out you actually only owe $500.

don’t shout at anyone about it, don’t get mad, just understand that this is The Way Things Are right now and call your health insurance provider before paying the bill your hospital just sent you. there’s a chance the hospital bill might be correct, true, but call your health insurance provider.

THIS IS SUPER IMPORTANT. after my car accident last year the hospital billed me ~$8000. They sent me letters asking me to pay, and I called them back saying my insurance was processing the claim. This is also what I told the collection agency when they kept calling me about the $1000 emergency room fee (billed separately from the hospital fee, mind you). Once everything got straightened out, all I was actually liable for was my $200 emergency copay.

!!!!!!! things my ass didn’t know !!!!!!!!

Yes this is a life lesson my adulting ass didn’t know I needed and I’m out 80 bucks for an anti-nausea pill. 😒😒😒😒😒

Reblogging for American friends.

Also, it is important [for people receiving medical care in the USA] to carefully read all of the items on the medical bill and look for errors and overcharges. I know that the normal feelings of avoidance and dread can make it hard to look at scary hospital bills, and that’s okay! But as the OP mentions, private orgs like hospitals don’t monitor overpayment of bills – they are motivated to charge you extra – and it is basically impossible to get your money back. Read the bill carefully and make sure that the charges are correct, using the links below for help if you need. If they haven’t sent you an itemized list, you can ask for one. Sometimes you will be charged extra for items or treatment you didn’t receive. Most people don’t know that you can dispute medical bills! But in 2009, Consumer Reports stated that 8 out of 10 medical bills scrutinized by a watchdog had errors, and generally you are not obligated to pay for someone else’s error.

You may be charged for using medication that you actually brought into the hospital with you – that’s easy to dispute! You may be charged for the consumables used during your stay such as sheets, gloves, gowns, etc – the hospital should actually cover that under its running budget. You may be charged for a brand name drug if the generic was available for cheaper – the links below explain how and when you can dispute this. You may be charged a surprisingly expensive “oral administration fee” (where a nurse puts pills for you to take in a little clean paper cup and then hands it to you) but that’s worth disputing if you were actually able to take the pill out of a bottle and put it in your own mouth. And so on.

@thesecondcomingofkobe

I got a $900 charge for an anesthesiologist with my first child. I had a natural birth with no epi. Why that charge was there was never explained, but basically he showed up as I was delivering & stood around so I guess he thought he could bill me for being in the same room.

OKAY NO BUT THAT LEGIT PROBABLY HAPPENED!!

When I was in a car accident and had two of my friends with me, they tried to bill each of us the FULL AMOUNT of the ambulance ride, as if we had taken three separate ones even though I was the only one on a stretcher with an IV start in me.

ALSO! My mother-in-law once gave birth in the car (it was like her 3rd or 5th kid she was a pro at it already) and despite her not needing it, the hospital still put her in the delivery room and recovery room before giving her a normal room. Keep in mind THE KID WAS ALREADY BORN when they arrived at the hospital. They literally only put her in those rooms so they could charge her for them…

IMPORTANTE!!

patreon peeps requested snakes so. Snake Crew.

none of them have names right now but i’ve drawn the gentleman on the right before.  he and the Cobra are bitter frenemies doing a solid for their actual friend, the little Hognose.

Cobra is a disgraced former bodyguard to reptile dignitaries now making his way as a sellsword/entertainer. he hardly trusts anything or anyone and he’s great at protecting people he actually cares about. always has a backup plan. frickin’ hates the Python.

Python is a mercenary 4 life with great fashion. seems to have dirt on everyone he meets and can come up with a lie at the speed of sound but mostly tells the truth because people just believe he’s lying anyway and that’s funnier. no one knows exactly what kind of python he’s supposed to be. thinks the Cobra is trash.

Hognose has worked with both these gents before and she’s just happy to be here. the boys are both like brothers to her and owe her a lot of cash so they’re her personal body guards to wherever she’s going. they don’t know where she got the definitely cursed staff from in the two years she’s been missing, since she used to have a big battle ax, and they kinda don’t want to ask. they’re starting to feel like the less they know about her quest, the better. some gods seem to be side-eyeing them pretty hard. at least the staff doesn’t seem to be affecting her. she’s still at her natural amount of mischievous corruption as far as they can tell.

i refuse to write more about them because i’m working on Downtrodden stuff and so help me i don’t need to make Snake Race Lore.

These designs are freaking awesome. 😍

fern-friend:

Hello Friends! Strangers frequently will come up to me and ask “what happened to your leg?”, which as many of you may know, gets really old really fast. I was at a doctor’s appointment two weeks ago and met a man with a broken leg wearing a “Leg Story – $5” shirt. Unfortunately, his sister had made his for him, and it’s expensive to buy just one custom, well-made, t-shirt. There are a few amputee support websites that sell shirts like this, but they all have an image of an amputee on them.

So I decided to make a “Leg Story – $5” shirt for anyone who is tired of having to explain themselves to complete strangers week after week. For wheelchair users, for people who some days need mobility devices and some days do not, for people who get told “oh, I’m so sorry” after explaining to someone that a condition is permanent. Make some money off their intrusive questions. The shirts are being sold with no mark up from cost of production, and the fabric is a a super soft 60/40 cotton polyester blend. We need 49 orders by September 21st in order for the shipment to be placed, and if we don’t reach 49 orders then everyone who did place an order will have their money refunded. If we do reach 49 orders then orders will ship October 1st!
