The two most life-changing concepts I ever read about disability that fundamentally helped me better understand the situations of many disabled people are:

1. Every person requires assistance of some kind and living “independently” means different things to different people regardless of disability.

2. A number of things we consider “normal” like eyeglasses are literally disability accommodations, they’re just accommodations that are commonly used and socially accepted.
